Stephanie Shell is an early childhood education leader, advocate, and entrepreneur dedicated to strengthening families and improving the quality of child care in North Carolina. A native of Winston-Salem, she is a graduate of Christopher Newport University and Myers University and brings more than 18 years of professional experience across education, program development, and project management.
Stephanie is the Owner and Director of Little Captains Academy, a licensed five-star family child care program in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she is committed to providing high-quality early learning experiences that nurture children’s development and prepare them for lifelong success.
Beyond the classroom, Stephanie is a passionate advocate for children, educators, and working families. She actively collaborates with community organizations and policymakers to elevate the voices of family child care providers and improve access to affordable, high-quality child care. She currently serves on several boards and committees, including the Wake County Family Child Care Association, North Raleigh Providers Network, NC Smart Start, and NC Child. Through her leadership, Stephanie advances policies and community initiatives that support early childhood education, environmental stewardship, and family well-being.
